January 1, 2009

Happy 2009! It's a new year! 2008 was a hard year for most people; including me. I graduated college and had to move to back home to Saint Louis - leaving dear friends/memories and my wild youth behind. I started a career, wrecked my car twice and got my heart broken.
I expect great things for 2009. It's my Michael Jordan [23] year. It's my year to grow and learn, travel, try new things [sailing in the spring, horseback riding lessons, the piano]. It's my year to get over my fears - driving, dying, trust, singing [the new band I'm playing in will help]. This year I am dedicated to living more green.

I'm going to get myself into a lot of trouble.

And I like it.

The Black Angels play this friday at Randy Bacon's Monarch Studio. I can't wait to see how they go crazy on stage.

2006 in Review

2006 gave new meaning to my never-ending quest for “What to listen to this morning?” Morning wake up music is imperative to my day. It’s a great feeling to know that despite all my music swaps, reading up on & writing music - I still haven’t hit all the new albums from last year. So even though it’s late, I’m going to list my favorite albums from 2006. It was an amazing year in music. Yay.

The Album Leaf - Into the Blue Again
The Flaming Lips - At War With the Mystics
TV on the Radio - Return to Cookie Mountain [not my favorite TV album, but I have a feeling it‘s growing on me]
Marie Antoinette Sountrack
Little Miss Sunshine Soundtrack - Devochka sans vox is pretty impressive.
Belle & Sebastian - The Life Pursuit
Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin - Broom
Be Your Own Pet - Be Your Own Pet
Band of Horses - Funeral [the funeral was my anthem]
Voxtrot - Mothers, Sisters, Daughters & Wives EP [these guys know how to do it, just wish there were more tracks on it]
M. Ward - Post War
Wolfmother - Wolfmother
Peaches - Impeach My Bush
The Mountain Goats - Get Lonely
Fujiya & Miyagi - Transparent Thing [*Collarbone. dance dance dance in your underwear - you must with this album!!]
Andrew Bird - Fingerlings 3
Thom Yorke - The Eraser [Harrowdown Hill OMG!!]
Cat Power - The Greatest
Bonnie “Prince” Billy - The Letting Go [so weird. Love it.]
Gnarles Barkley - St. Elsewhere
Feist - Open Season
Ratatat - Classics [spin this al night & it’s the best party ever]
Bishop Allen - January-December EP’s [Flight 180 is my favorite track. I need to see these guys live]
The Beatles - Love [ok I know… but you can‘t beat the mixed stew of their greatest rock hits. Forever fan I am - they are timeless]
AIR - Late Night Tales
Phoenix - Its Never Been Like This
And my favorite album: ISLANDS - RETURN TO THE SEA
